Dr. Abraham W. HaddadDr. Haddad received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University in 1963 and his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University in 1967.  He completed a residency in general practice of dentistry from Memorial Hospital in 1968. He completed his Certificate in periodontology from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1971. He currently is an assistant professor of clinical surgery at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, a visiting lecturer at the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine and an adjunct professor at the School of Dental Hygiene at Quinsigamond Community College.

Dr. Haddad has published multiple scientific papers in the field of periodontology including contributions to two major textbooks with specific reference to management of bite disorders. He has served as the Chairman of the Division of Dental Medicine at Memorial Hospital, supervising training of general practice residents from 1975 through 1990. Currently, he is on the hospital staffs of both St. Vincent’s Hospital, as well as UMass Memorial.

Dr. Haddad’s professional affiliations include membership in the American Dental Association, the International College of Oral Implantology, the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Association of Hospital Dentists and a multitude of other local professional organizations. Throughout his career, he has been and continues to be involved with all aspects of organized dentistry, including research, educational and community outreach programs. He is the founder of the Central Massachusetts Dental Implant Study Group and also is affiliated with the Central Massachusetts Dental Research Study Group, both of which continuously sponsor updates in all aspects of newer research and treatment advances. These organizations are devoted to teach dentists the most current methods of diagnosis and comprehensive treatment planning.

Since opening his periodontal practice in 1971 in Worcester, Dr. Haddad has devoted himself to a wide spectrum of professional, charitable, cultural, civic and community endeavors within Central Massachusetts. During this time, he has continually divided his time between his practice and a strong belief and commitment to both his profession and his community. Over the past five years, he has been active with the Central Massachusetts Oral Health Initiative, which has focused on making oral health care available to those without access in the community. Simultaneously, he has been instrumental in the reestablishment of a general practice residency based at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, whose focus is not only managing special need patients, but also providing care to those in need.

Dr. Haddad believes in delivering the highest quality of dental care to his patients and embracing the areas of periodontology, as well as Dental Implantology through state of the art techniques, high tech equipment, team planning, education, and a highly specialized and trained staff.

Dr. Haddad has recently been awarded the highest honor that can be bestowed by the American Board of Special Care Dentistry for his contributions to curriculum development and program implementation for care of special needs patients throughout the United States. During his tenure as President of the American Association of Hospital Dentistry, he established the criteria and structure for certification of hospital dentists.

As a noted lecturer, he has delivered papers on dental care with numerous healthcare and educational organizations and institutions throughout the United States, as well as in many other countries worldwide. During the past five years, the emphasis of the practice has been on the initiation and implementation of the newest techniques involving dental implants. Related to that, it has been the ongoing sponsoring and lecturing in the field of implantology including mini residencies and lectures for the dental profession. He has been fully certified in his specialty of periodontology and has achieved the diplomat status from the Academy of Periodontology. In addition, he has completed all of the certification testing and case presentations required to have achieved a similar diplomat in the field of implantology from the International College of Implantology.
